Adam Kent, Cuvva's Senior Underwriting Lead and Insurance Expert, said: 'There are no two ways about it. If you want to drive, you must be insured. Even if your vehicle is not in use, you must have motor insurance if it’s parked on a road or in a public place (like a communal car park). If it is kept off the road and declared as SORN, it’s not compulsory to have insurance but please be mindful of the risks: your car could still be damaged or stolen. Luckily, it's quick and easy to get an insurance quote - and not doing so simply isn't worth the risk, with £500m paid out in claims relating to uninsured driving every year. As a result of this, car insurance becomes more expensive for everyone. Don't do it.'

FAQs on car insurance
How old do you need to be to use Cuvva?
To use Cuvva, you'll need to be over 19 and under 70.
If you're under 21, you might have to have held your full licence for at least a year - and have no at-fault or joint-fault accidents or claims.
If you're a learner, the age requirements are a bit different. You'll need to be aged between 17 and 40, and have had your provisional driving licence for less than 5 years.
You may need to be older to insure certain types of cars.
Can I drive other people's cars?
Cuvva allows you to borrow someone else's car or to share the driving on a long trip. Unlike some other temporary insurers, you don't need to have a specific relationship with the owner.
Can I insure a van with Cuvva?

Can young drivers insure a van with Cuvva?
Yes - just download the app to get started. and may have held your driving licence for a year.
Can Cuvva insure drivers over the age of 60?
New customers will usually need to be aged 19 - 65, though if you can get a quote on our website, we can cover you.
Can you insure an electric car with Cuvva?
You can get cover on any electric or hybrid vehicle, as long as it is in an insurance group lower than 50, is less than 20 years old and valued at £40,000 or less.
