Can I drive someone else’s motorhome or campervan?
Yep, this is one of the best things about temporary insurance. Just buy your own standalone policy on their van and you can drive it in minutes. Plus, the owner’s own policy and no-claims bonus is protected even if you need to make a claim on yours.
Can I use temporary insurance to drive my own motorhome or campervan?
Yes, but there are some things to be aware of. Temporary insurance is great for getting a new vehicle home from a dealership, giving you time to research and buy an annual policy. And you can also use it to insure a previously-SORNed vehicle, if you want to drive it for a short period after keeping it off-road, before getting a longer-term policy or SORNing it again. You could also use Cuvva to ‘upgrade’ your insurance, like if you’ve got an annual third party policy but want to get comprehensive cover before a trip. But legally, you can’t only insure a vehicle when you want to drive it, and then leave it uninsured while it’s parked up on the kerb. The motorhome or campervan must always have an underlying policy unless it’s SORNed or securely stored off-road.
