It’s official: Londoners are Britain’s best drivers, according to our exclusive Smart Pricing data. We crunched the numbers to find out which region has the best drivers… and the capital came up trumps!
We used Smart Pricing data to come up with our league table of the country’s best drivers.
Smart Pricing is an exciting new feature on Cuvva’s mobile app. Using clever technology already in your phone, we reward good drivers with savings on their car insurance premiums.
By measuring how well you accelerate, brake, corner, focus and watch your speed, Smart Pricing can help you cut your bill by up to ⅓.
After driving 125 miles, every Cuvva user is given a personalised driving score, which shows them how safe they’re being on the road. The higher your score out of 100, the more you save.
If all that isn’t enough, you also instantly save 10% on your monthly bill just by signing up!
There’s no disputing it: Londoners are Britain’s best drivers!
Our driving insights are backed by data from over fifteen thousand users, who have collectively taken over one million trips.
The average Londoner’s score was 83 out of 100 - a very impressive total against stiff opposition from drivers in other regions.
Londoners particularly excelled at watching their speed, a category in which they scored 89 - the highest in the country.
They also scored highest in cornering, with a score of 75.
Their braking score was 73, their acceleration was 71 and their focus was 95. Not bad at all!
Even though Londoners came out on top, they were pushed close by the North West, the East of England and the South East, who came in just a point behind with a driving score of 82.
The North East & Yorkshire, the East Midlands, Wales, the South West and the West Midlands all scored 81 points.
Scotland scored 80 points and came in last place, but still led the nation in acceleration (76) and braking (77).
Cuvva’s COO, Andy Tomlinson said “Our Smart Pricing feature has proven invaluable as it truly helps us understand our customers unique driving behaviours.
“Not only is it helping customers save money on their monthly subscription car insurance, it also helps people better understand their own driving habits whilst being rewarded for driving safely.”
A recent report published by Consumer Intelligence confirmed more than a quarter (27%) of the five cheapest car insurance quotes now come from telematics firms that price premiums based on driving habits.
Charlie from Nottinghamshire, a Cuvva customer, said: "The great thing about Cuvva is your price gets cheaper the better you drive. Last month I got £7 off of my policy just by driving safely using Smart Pricing."
And Cuvva customer Harrison from Bournemouth is currently saving £12 per month on his monthly Smart Pricing policy, reducing his bill from £29 to £17 in just 30 days.
Smart Pricing is available on Cuvva’s subscription insurance, which is payable in rolling monthly installments with no nasty fees or tie-ins. Cuvva also offers temporary car insurance from as little as one hour.
