What we do
We are an independent insurance intermediary acting on your behalf to arrange your insurance, we do this solely through our mobile application ‘Cuvva’. We offer short-term motor insurance by the hour and we use a single insurer when arranging your insurance.
What you need
Cuvva does not advise or recommend any insurance product. If you agree to our terms then you will need to make your own choice about how to proceed and ensure the suitability of the product to meet your needs.
In completing our in app membership and quotation process you have requested short-term motor insurance in accordance with the details you submitted. It is very important that the information you give us is correct as this will be reviewed by the insurer if there is a claim.
If you need to update us with an new information that you are unable to alter in the app you should email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our motor policies are suitable for persons who require short-term motor insurance cover on a comprehensive basis.
Cuvva Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Our FCA number is 690273. We are permitted to arrange and deal as agency for non-investment insurance contracts.
It is our intention to provide you with an exceptional level of customer service at all times. However, should you be unhappy with our service or have any cause for dissatisfaction we have a formal complaints procedure. You should always contact us first by e-mail at email@example.com, or in writing to Cuvva c/o Swiss Re, 1 Pancras Square, London, N1C 4AG. If we cannot settle your complaint with us, you are entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Further information about compensation scheme arrangement is available from the FSCS.
All transactions are completed via our mobile app and you should not proceed to the payment screen and then authorise payment if you do not wish us to collect money from you. Quotations are valid and guaranteed only for the period in which you have the app open with the quotation on the screen.
It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information to us when you take out your insurance policy. You must notify us of any changes including, but not exclusive to, motoring convictions or criminal convictions and any vehicle modifications. You can do this by e-mail, or in writing.
It is important that you ensure that all statements you make in our app, written or verbally relating to claims or in any documentation are full and accurate.
If the information provided by you is not complete and accurate, the insurer has the right to cancel your policy and refuse to pay any claim, or may not pay any claim in full, or may revise the premium and/or change the compulsory excess, or the extent of the cover may be affected.
If you choose to create use the social garage, either as a borrower or a lender of a vehicle, you understand and agree that your relationship with Cuvva is limited to the provision of insurance by Cuvva, and you act exclusively on your own behalf and for your own benefit, and not on behalf of or for the benefit of Cuvva. Cuvva does not control, and has no right to control, your vehicle listing, your offline activities associated with your listing, or any other matters related to any listing, that you provide. As a member you agree not to do anything to create a false impression that you are endorsed by, partnering with, or acting on behalf of or for the benefit of Cuvva, including by inappropriately using any Cuvva intellectual property.
The site, application and services comprise an online platform through which owners may opt in to the Social Garage and borrowers may learn about and book vehicles directly with the owners. You understand and agree that Cuvva is not a party to any agreements entered into between owners and borrowers, nor is Cuvva a car rental agency. Cuvva has no control over the conduct of owners, borrowers and other users of the site, application and services or any vehicles, and disclaims all liability in this regard to the maximum extent permitted by law.
How we get paid
Premiums can be paid in app by Credit Card, Debit Card or Apple Pay. We may (but probably won’t) make charges for certain payment methods and you will be advised of these charges before your payment is processed. These payment methods are all processed by our payments partner Stripe.
We make base charges on all policies which you will be advised of in our quotation summary which you will view prior to purchase. Our VAT number is GB 216740029.
Cuvva Limited is remunerated by receiving a percentage of premium by way of commission or brokerage which will be disclosed to clients on request. Alternatively, an agreed administration fee may be charged or a combination of a fee and/or commission. We may earn additional income from insurers to reflect our efficiency and/or profitability and from interest on our client statutory/non statutory trust account, which you consent to us retaining.
All insurance premiums will be held in a client account held with Stripe which means that whilst we have legal ownership the money remains for the benefit of our clients. Where it is a necessary part of arranging your insurance we may pay a proportion of your premium to insurers via another intermediary.
Cuvva Limited act as agent of insurers for the collection of premium. This means that premiums are treated as being received by the insurer when received by our payments processor and the insurer will bear the risk for any losses that may arise from the failure of our firm.

Your Certificate and Schedule of Insurance will be created and emailed to your stated email address when we are in receipt of full payment of the policy premium(s), it may also be visible within the Cuvva app depending on mobile network connectivity. We will ensure that you receive full details of your insurance cover and will provide you with any documents that you are required to have by law.
To make sure you get the best premium, and to protect against fraud and to verify your identity, we use the government “MyLicence” DVLA database to confirm any outstanding endorsements on your driving licence, you can see our Fair Obtaining Notice (FON) in the app. In order to verify that your card details are active we will reserve £1 on your account, this will be released back to you within 7 days. To authenticate you against your licence we also ask you to take a ‘selfie’ – this image will only be used in the event of a claim.
Claims and incident reporting
In the event of a claim you should contact the incident report helpline using the contact details in your policy documentation, this may also be visible within the Cuvva app depending on mobile network connectivity. Claims should be notified as soon as possible.
All personal information about you will be treated as private and confidential. We will only use and disclose the information we have about you in the normal course of arranging your insurance, and will not disclose any information to any other parties. We may use information we hold about you to provide information to you about other products and services that we feel may be appropriate to you. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to see personal information about you that we hold in our records. If you have any queries please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms of business shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. In relation to any legal action or proceedings arising out of or in connection with these terms of business we both irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
