Vehicles we can cover

You can use Cuvva to insure most UK-registered cars and vans, as long as it's in insurance group 40 or lower, and valued at less than £40,000.

But there are some exceptions, and some other types of vehicle that we can't cover yet.

Just so you know, the rules can be a bit different for pay-monthly insurance. Check out our pay-monthly vehicle requirements here.

We can't insure Modified Vehicles

We define a modification as anything that's been changed on a vehicle after leaving the factory.

This includes:

  • Aftermarket Parts
  • Vinyl Wraps
  • Decals/Stickers
  • Engine Modifications
  • Vehicles that have been converted into pickup trucks, motor homes or camper vans

We can usually cover cars that are already insured

You can use Cuvva on a vehicle that's already covered by another insurer, but there are a few exceptions.

If your vehicle is:

  • Covered by a fleet policy
  • Owned by a hire car company
  • A courtesy car

We sadly can't insure it.

Other Vehicle Types

We don't insure motorbikes, scooters, or quad bikes.

MOT

We can only cover vehicles with a valid MOT. You can use our free car checker to find out if your MOT is up to date.

Check before you drive

Before you buy a policy, make sure that your vehicle meets these requirements.

If you use Cuvva on a vehicle which shouldn't have been insured with us, we might not be able to cover you again. And if you were involved in an accident, our underwriter wouldn't pay out any claims.

So if you're not sure, just contact our customer support team before you pay. They're on hand 24/7, with an average response time of 1 minute.
