Policy durations

You can buy temporary car insurance for as little as an hour, all the way up to 28 days.

Which policy durations can I get?

Policy durations are pretty flexible. The shortest one you can get is an hour. ⏰

Less than a day

  • 1 hour
  • 2 hours
  • 3 hours
  • 6 hours
  • 12 hours

If you need more than 12 hours’ insurance, you can choose from 1 day, 2 days, 3 days etc. – all the way up to 28.

Choosing your policy

To choose your short-term car insurance policy, the first thing you need to do is download the app and sign up. 📱

Once you’ve done that, you can type in your car’s registration number and get a quote.

Next, you’ll see a screen like this:

A screen from the Cuvva app showing a menu, with which users can choose their policy duration. This screen shows pricing for 1 hour.

You can scroll right to see longer policy durations, along with the prices:

Tap “next step” to pick that policy.

Policy durations for learner drivers

The available policy durations are different for learner drivers. If you have a provisional licence, you can get up to 2 hours per day.

Extending your policy

If you need a little more time, you can extend your policy in just a few taps. You just have to be a quarter of the way through your existing policy. That means if you bought a 1-hour policy, you’d have to be 15 minutes through, for example.
